What is a network audit?
A network audit is a professional service that ComputerTeks performs on a customer's network. No software or hardware is installed on any of the customer's computers during this audit. The information provided from the audit will help ComputerTeks and the customer outline a cost-effective technical road map!
- Record every computer's (laptop, desktop or server) name, operating system, computer model, etc., that is connected to the customer's network
- Record all of the programs installed on those computers and what version it is
- Identify network devices (printers, print servers) and related IP addresses
- Identify the IP address scheme, gateway server, DNS/WINS servers and related information
Why does my company need it?
A network audit will give you a great, unbiased snap-shot of your network environment. The audit should be able to answer these questions:
- Do you have the right amount of licenses?
- What model of computers do you have?
- What is the service tag or serial number for each device?
- Is each computer configured correctly or is there a need for some adjustments?
- Do you have enough computers to qualify for licensing discounts on various software products?
- Think of the network audit as a chance to verify that your technology budget is being used to its fullest potential.
Are the results confidential?
Yes! ComputerTeks guarantees that the results from the audit will remain confidential. After 50+ network audits on the networks of hospitals, banks and other institutions, we continue to be trusted with extremely sensitive data!
How long does it take for the audit to run?
In most cases, the more computers and network devices, the longer the process. The average time for a company with a total of 20 computers, servers and network devices is 45 minutes.
Is any personal or confidential material viewed during the audit?
No. This software is approved for audits in hospitals, banks, government offices and telecom companies. Never are any private documents opened, read or saved during the audit. The software that scans the network is only looking for computer information, not documents or sensitive files.
I’m not sure that my company is large enough to need a network audit.
There is no such thing as a network being "too small", especially when it comes to a business. Regardless of the size of your network, having a network audit done at least once a year helps ensure that you, the business owner, are getting the most out of your technology budget.
Do I have to purchase anything?
No. Your first network audit is free and there is nothing to purchase and zero obligations!
What is the next step after the audit is performed?
Once the audit is performed, a follow up meeting is scheduled with the customer. At that meeting, ComputerTeks will present the customer with a report of the findings and discuss what options are available to resolve any technical issues that exist. Again, there is no obligation to do anything. : )
